Gernot Marx

Prof. Dr. Gernot Marx graduated at the Hannover Medical School in Germany. He worked as Senior Lecturer in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine at the University of Liverpool, UK and was appointed Professor of Anesthesiology & Intensive Care Medicine at the University Jena, Germany in 2004. Since 2008, he is full Professor of Anesthesiology & Head of Department of Intensive Care Medicine at RWTH Aachen University Hospital. Marx has been strongly committed to the topics of telemedicine and digitalization in healthcare. Prof. Marx has been Chairman of the Board of the German Society for Telemedicine since 2016.

He has published more than 350 peer reviewed papers and is editor of several books and journals.

From 2021 to 2022, Gernot Marx was President of the German Interdisciplinary Association for Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine (DIVI). Gernot Marx is currently President of the German Society of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine.
