Michael Pinsky

Dr. Pinsky is a Professor of Critical Care Medicine, Bioengineering, Cardiovascular Diseases, Clinical & Translational Science, and Anesthesiology at the University of Pittsburgh and a faculty member of the Center for Military Medicine Research. He is now Director Emeritus of the Cardiopulmonary Research Laboratory which he ran for the last 42 years until 2023. He received his MD from McGill University post-graduate internal medicine residency and pulmonary fellowship at Stanford University and advanced physiological at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutes. His research interests include cardiopulmonary physiology, advanced hemodynamic monitorng in critical illness, predictive analytics and AI in healthcare. He is the PI on one R01 and co-investigator on 3 DoD and 5 NIH R01 grants. He has edited 27 medical textbooks, authored >450 peer-reviewed publications, >220 chapters and supported >500 abstract presentations. He is on the editorial boards of Critical Care, Journal of Critical Care, Annals of Critical Care, and Intensive Care Medicine. He is an ad hoc reviewer for NHLBI K, R and Special Interest Awards annually.
